Zoe Hodge, Senior Associate in our private client team, has gained full accredited membership of Solicitors for the Elderly.
Solicitors for the Elderly is a national association of lawyers and solicitors who specialise in older client law. All accredited members must complete the SFE Older Client Care in Practice Award. The qualification covers both legal skills as well as soft skills. Understanding illnesses, frailties, and vulnerabilities, including dementia, is a big part of the award. It also covers understanding capacity and making sure the client’s wishes are adhered to and there is no pressure or coercion from outside parties. As well as this, members are encouraged to consider their environment and accessibility.
Zoe qualified as a solicitor in 2003 and joined our private client team in February 2020. As well as her membership of SFE, Zoe is a full member of the Society of Estate Practitioners (STEP). STEP is the leading professional body for trust and estate practitioners worldwide and full members are considered the most experienced and senior practitioners in their field. Zoe has vast experience in all aspects of private client work and has helped many clients with their Wills, Lasting Powers of Attorney, Court of Protection applications, care home fees and general estate planning.
Partner and Head of Department, Wayne Perrin, said ‘We are delighted for Zoe that she has been awarded this membership. Zoe has many years’ experience in this area and it’s great to see her recognised. She will continue to drive the firm’s work in this growing area of law forward’.
