Nigel Scase

Tax Director

Nigel has over 20 years’ experience in all aspects of Trusts & Estates

Nigel is a Tax Director (Trusts & Estates) in the Private Client Team having joined in the firm in 1998. He came from an accountancy background having trained with BDO Binder Hamlyn in Bury St Edmunds and Chantrey Vellacott in Watford. He qualified as a Taxation Technician (ATT) in 1995 and a Chartered Tax Advisor (CTA) in 1997.

What can Nigel do for you?

With over 20 years’ experience Nigel can assist you with administering complex estates from obtaining the grant of representation through to the final distribution of the estate to the beneficiaries. He assists personal representatives in ensuring that they meet all their obligations with HMRC during the administration process.

He regularly deals trust administration including preparation of annual accounts and tax returns as well as inheritance tax reporting requirements on specific events for both relevant property trusts and for life interest trusts where the life tenant’s interest has come to an end either during their lifetime or on their death. This includes advising trustees on their obligations regarding non-domestic tax issues under both FATCA and CRS.

He also advises clients on capital gains tax relating to residential properties and claims for the Principal Private Residence relief.

What do others say?

‘A good communicator and efficient in completing the tasks. We were kept up to date with progress. At times aspects of the work fell slightly outside Nigel’s expertise, we were impressed that he did not attempt to bluff his way through instead seeking clarification from colleagues.’
Legal 500 (UK) 2025

‘Nigel Scase is considerate, sympathetic and highly professional. I can’t personally thank him enough.’
Legal 500 (UK) 2024

‘Thank you for the work that you have done for us on this matter.  I am particularly appreciative of the time and care that you took to explain the process and the inevitable ‘legalese’ – the whole thing made a lot more sense as a result.’
