Hot on the heels of the Legal 500 legal directory publication, the 2026 edition of Chambers & Partners UK was released on Thursday 16 October, ranking seven of our departments and sixteen individual lawyers. Feedback from clients interviewed by the directory includes: ‘Greene & Greene has an incredibly rare combination of faultless legal knowledge and genuine commercial industry experience’ and ‘…exceptional client service, legal nous and commercial acumen.’ We are also extremely proud to be one of only three firms nationally shortlisted in the ‘Responsible Business: Outstanding Firm – DEI’ award category.
Corporate and Commercial
Our Corporate and Commercial team acts for a range of corporate entities including regional and national businesses, PLCs and private investors. It is experienced in acquisitions, disposals and reorganisations. The team is recommended as amongst the best in the region.
Partners Mark Whittaker, who is described as ‘..simply top class. We trust him 100%’ and Mark Daly, have both been ranked in band 3. Managing Partner, Simon Ratcliffe, holds onto his band 2 ranking and received feedback including: ‘Simon is one of the best in the business of corporate.’ Andrew Cooper, Partner, has maintained his band 2 ranking with clients commenting: ‘Andrew is nothing short of exceptional. Commercial Litigation
Ranked as band 2, Chambers notes the team is widely recognised for expertise in an array of commercial disputes.
Rob Adam, heads the Dispute Resolution team. He is individually ranked in band 2 with feedback including: ‘I rate Rob exceptionally highly as a litigator who strikes the perfect balance between legal nous, commercial awareness and just being a very decent and dedicated person.’
Hugely experienced Michael Batty, Senior Partner, is newly promoted to Senior Statesperson, a well-deserved recognition of Michael’s hard work and dedication to the legal profession. Feedback from his clients includes: ‘Michael is very knowledgeable and demonstrates commitment to his client.’
Senior Associate, Rachel Turner-George is again ranked as an Associate to watch, with clients commenting: ‘Rachel has an exceptional legal brain, outstanding commercial acumen and is a delight to work with.’

Our Employment team is once again ranked band 2. The team advises individuals and businesses across a wide spectrum of employment matters. Client testimonials include: ‘There is an outstanding range of experience and knowledge within the team.’

Commercial Property
The firm’s Commercial Property team is noted for its experience in covering a broad range of real estate services, with one client commenting: ‘They are efficient and very thorough, offering an exceptional service.’ Partner and head of department, Tim Mendes da Costa, is ranked for the second year in a row.
Property Litigation
The team provides a wide range of services including advice on planning disputes, restrictive covenants, adverse possession and forfeiture. Michael Batty, Senior Partner, is noted for being ‘really thorough in his preparation and he’s also incredibly efficient.’ Rob Adam, Partner, is again also ranked.
Construction
Sarah Western is ranked band 2 with clients commenting: ‘Sarah Western is very knowledgeable, professional and has extensive experience working within the construction industry.’
Family and Matrimonial
Our Family team is recognised as qualified experts who have in-depth practical expertise in all aspects of family and / or relationship disputes. Feedback includes: ‘They are excellent: the team is extremely conscientious and hard-working.’
Partner and head of department, Stuart Hughes, is ranked as a band 1 lawyer with client feedback including: ‘Stuart is an amazingly intelligent bloke, knows his field inside out and works fantastically hard.’

Agriculture and Rural Affairs
The team regularly acts for agricultural and business property owners on rural transactions, agricultural tenancies, trust and taxation issues and succession planning matters.
