Greene & Greene Solicitors is proud to have acted as legal adviser to each of the partners of Ensors Accountants in the sale of their respective interests in the practice to Azets, the international accounting and business advisory group.
The acquisition of one of the region’s most established and respected accountancy firms establishes a strong presence in East Anglia and creates a new regional platform for future growth, including further investment, recruitment, and M&A in the area.
Founded over 130 years ago, Ensors has grown into a regional leader with more than 300 professionals across six offices in Bury St Edmunds, Cambridge, Huntingdon, Ipswich, Norwich, and Saxmundham. Ensors provides a full range of services including audit, tax, corporate finance, business recovery, and forensic accounting.
As part of Azets, Ensors’ clients will continue to receive the same trusted advice and high-quality service from the same teams they know and trust – with the added benefit of broader access to specialist expertise, new service lines, and the scale of an international group.
Greene & Greene’s team was led by Neil Walmsley, Partner and Simon Ratcliffe, Managing Partner who oversaw the transaction with assistance from fellow corporate team members, Mark Whittaker, Partner, Jonathan Hewett, Associate, and Iona Caseby, Associate. Fellow Partners, Selene Holden and Hugo Greer-Walker, also acted on the transaction in relation to employment and commercial property matters respectively.
Simon Ratcliffe commented: “We are delighted to have supported Ensors on this landmark transaction. As two long-standing firms with deep roots in East Anglia, it has been a privilege to work alongside a business that shares our commitment to quality, integrity, and regional growth. This deal represents a significant step forward for Ensors and Azets, and we’re proud to have played a part in helping bring it to fruition.”
