Martine is a Partner in our Tax, Trusts, Wills and Probate team.
When did you join Greene & Greene and what is your current role?
I joined Greene & Greene in March 2000. I became a Partner in our Tax, Wills, Trust and Probate team in February 2022.
Please tell us about your career to date
I joined Greene & Greene straight from school, starting as an accounts assistant. I started an apprenticeship in accounting and became Association of Accounting Technicians (AAT) qualified. During this time, I moved to the Private Client team and gained experience working on court of protection cases, wills, and probate. I carried on my studies and became Society of Trust and Estate Practitioners (STEP), Association of Taxation Technicians (ATT) and Chartered Tax Adviser (CTA) qualified.
What attracted you to join the firm?
I knew from a young age I wanted to work in or with accounts so when I saw this opening I applied. I knew of the firm and thought it would be a great place to gain experience and undertake my training.
Describe a typical day
No two days are the same and whilst I have cases that have deadlines, I am always factoring in new clients, meetings, and training staff. The kind of work we deal with is extremely varied meaning I can deal with a straightforward probate one minute and the next receive a call about an international client who needs assistance with their affairs.
Is there anything you would like to say to prospective employees?
The firm have a real interest in their people and take the time to support and encourage career development. I am the first non-lawyer Partner at Greene & Greene and have gone on quite the journey over the past 20 years.
There are many long-standing employees which I think is testament to the firm’s culture and calibre of work it attracts. To top it off, flexible working, a great office location and plenty of social opportunities make this a lovely place to work and build a career.
